In her current capacity, Dominique Gardner plays a pivotal role in steering the Spartan Living residential education curriculum. Beyond her responsibilities of creating, enhancing and evaluating the curriculum, she also assumes the leadership of half of the professional live-on team. This team oversees the welfare and development of students residing in Palm Apartments, Straz Hall, Morsani Hall, Jenkins Hall and McKay Hall. In addition to these responsibilities, Gardner supervises the assistant director of residential education. This role involves oversight of student staff training, leadership initiatives and the facilitation of living-learning communities.
Before joining The University of Tampa, Gardner played a pivotal role in overseeing retention programs tailored to underrepresented student populations including LGBTQIA+, BIPOC, first-generation college students and individuals from low socioeconomic status households. Her journey in student affairs began as a live-on professional at a small private college in Portland, OR.
