David Reamer specializes in rhetoric, composition and technical communication. He has worked in an editorial capacity for various academic journals during his career, including Studies in the Fantastic, Rhetoric Review and FYHC: First-Year Honors Composition. He teaches courses in composition, editing and technical communication that emphasize academic research, civic engagement and experiential learning. His scholarly work has been published in Composition Studies, Programmatic Perspectives, Rhetoric Review, Technical Communication Quarterly and the edited collection Stories of Mentoring.
Reamer is on the peer review boards of the journals Rhetoric Review, Studies in the Fantastic and Xchanges. He is an active member of the Conference on College Composition and Communication, the Association of Teachers of Technical Writing and the Rocky Mountain Modern Language Association, presenting regularly at these organizations' annual conferences. Reamer also works with area nonprofits on service-learning projects for his students and participates in UT’s biannual Into the Streets volunteering events. Reamer serves as chair of the Department of English and Writing and co-coordinates the Professional and Technical Writing minor.
