Mingyan Xu conducts research in digital markets and specializes in using analytical models to investigate the human and technology interactions.
To understand the impact of technology in public education system, Xu’s current studies focus on the fundraising events initiated by K-12 educators in online crowdfunding platforms. By incorporating various data analytic methods, e.g., text mining techniques and machine learning models, Xu established empirical findings about the role of online crowdfunding in education equity.
Xu is passionate about teaching. Her teaching background lies in the areas including database management systems, IT and its business implications, computational concepts and algorithms and analytic programming.
Xu's research has been published in peer-reviewed conferences including the Americas Conference on Information Systems (AMCIS) and been invited to present in INFORMS, AMCIS, and Decision Science Institute (DSI) Southeast Conference. She has also served as a reviewer in AMCIS, HICCS and ICIS.
Mingyan is a member of the Association for Information Systems (AIS).
