UT’s Dance Happening Oct. 28–30 Will Offer A Kinetic Feast

The University of Tampa will present its popular Dance Happening Oct. 28–30 featuring pieces that explore everything from current social issues to dance for the pure joy of movement. All performances begin at 8 p.m. in Falk Theatre, located at 428 W. Kennedy Blvd.

Always a popular event on campus, the Dance Happening will feature popular music and more than 70 student dancers from all sectors of the University community.

Senior Samantha Pouchak, an applied dance major who is graduating in December, is choreographing her last dance at UT.

“The Dance Happening is all about people doing what they love. It’s a great way for student dancers and choreographers to express themselves in a very supportive environment,” said Pouchak. “Plus, it’s such a popular event, and we have so much fun performing for our audiences. Everyone who attends the Dance Happening leaves with a big smile on their face!”

Students and alumni have crafted new choreography in styles including tap, hip hop, Caribbean, modern, lyrical and jazz.

"The Dance Happening is simply one of the most unique and exciting performance events you'll experience on a university campus," said Susannah LeMarquand ’01, assistant professor of dance and director of the UT Dance Happening. “The range of work presented offers something for everyone!”
