Testing Center

Alternative testing is a common accommodation as many disabilities impact testing. We do provide testing in the testing center for students registered with a disability and who are entitled to testing accommodations. Many students elect to take their exams in the testing center as it is distraction-reduced. However, students must have registered with our office for the semester in which they are using our accommodations and have given us at least three business days' notice. This notice allows us the time necessary to contact the student's instructor and arrange to have a copy of the exam on the day and time it is due. Not all exams and quizzes require a trip to our office and scheduling them remains the student's responsibility. If the student or the student's instructor have any questions regarding testing accommodations, please contact our office at testing@ut.edu. 

If you are currently receiving exam/quiz accommodations through Student Accessibility Services, you must submit your exam/quiz request through your Accommodate portal. Accommodate is available on your MyUTampa. Any student currently receiving exam/quiz accommodations who submits any request outside of Accommodate will not have that request honored. 

In addition, all exam/quiz requests must be submitted 72 business hours in advance, otherwise, students will not be accommodated at the Testing Center.

As a helpful way to remember when you can submit requests, use the following example for an exam at 10 a.m.:

• If your exam is on Monday at 10 a.m., your request is due by 10 a.m. on the Wednesday before the exam.
• If your exam is on Tuesday at 10 a.m., your request is due by 10 a.m. on the Thursday before the exam.
• If your exam is on Wednesday at 10 a.m., your request is due by 10 a.m. on the Friday before the exam.
• If your exam is on Thursday at 10 a.m., your request is due by 10 a.m. on the Monday before the exam.
• If your exam is on Friday at 10 a.m., your request is due by 10 a.m. on the Tuesday before the exam.

All Other Exam/Quiz Requests: Make-Up, CLEP, Graduate Waivers, and ETS Exams

The testing center is not authorized to change exam times or dates without instructor approval. It is the student’s responsibility to receive permission from their instructor to take an exam/quiz at an alternate day and time. The Testing Center require at least three (3) business days’ notice of all exam requests. This notice allows us the time necessary to contact the student's instructor and arrange to have a copy of the exam on the day and time it is due.

Currently, the UT Testing Center is only able to accommodate CLEP exams for UT students.

UT Students can receive college credit by earning qualifying scores on one or more of the CLEP examinations UT accepts. More than 2,900 colleges and universities in the United States will recognize your comprehensive subject knowledge acquired through independent or prior study, cultural pursuits, special interests, internships or professional development. 

Each CLEP exam can earn three to six college credits (more for foreign languages). 

To take an exam, you must contact the testing center to  make an appointment in advance by submitting the form below. CLEP proctoring is offered on a limited basis and is at the discretion of the testing center coordinator. You must also create an account at  www.collegeboard.org to register for the exam you wish to take and pay the CLEP fee. 

When you come in for your testing appointment, you must bring your registration ticket you received when registering through the College Board, and a valid picture ID with a signature (NOT a student ID).

Currently, the UT Testing Center is only able to accommodate Graduate Waiver exams for UT students.

UT students must be enrolled in graduate level class to be able to take a Graduate Waiver exam. Students are advised to make a reservation with the Testing Center first, and then the Testing Center will work with the Graduate Business Programs office for access to the waiver exams in Canvas.

UT Undergraduate and MBA students have different versions of ETS exams. Student must contact their instructor before scheduling an ETS exam at the Testing Center.
