*Beginning in Fall 2024, UT will no longer offer a minor in dance/theatre. Any UT student, currently pursuing the dance/theatre minor, will be allowed to complete that degree of study per the catalog year of their enrollment at The University of Tampa.*
The dance/theatre minor offers the opportunity to develop and expand theatrical talents and skills as well as knowledge about the performing arts. Students can tailor the program to fit their particular interests in dance and/or theatre. Students will choose from a wide menu of technique classes, including ballet, modern, jazz, tap, Latin dance, partner dance and African dance, and take advantage of the many performing opportunities available throughout the year. There are no prerequisites to participate in the dance/theatre minor program.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do you have to audition to become a dance/theatre minor?
No. You do not need to audition to declare a dance/theatre minor.
Are there scholarships available?
General financial assistance is available to all students who meet the requirements. Students interested in more information should speak to their admissions counselor and/or the financial aid office.
How do I get involved in campus dance productions?
We sponsor four major dance productions each year—one production each semester featuring choreography by UT students, the annual Spring Dance Concert with faculty and other professional choreographers, and the Evening of Experimental Dance. All students are eligible to audition (whether or not they are dance/theatre minors or enrolled in dance classes). Additional performing opportunities, both on- and off-campus, are available as well.
How does this differ from the applied dance minor?
The applied dance minor is geared toward preparing students to teach dance. The requirements for each minor program differ.
Can I do both?
Yes. Courses that are required for both minors will apply to both.
What are dance/theatre minor students going after graduation?
Some of our students have found employment performing on cruise ships and theme parks while others have gone on to perform at various theaters or touring productions.
