Returning Resident Room Selection

2025-2026 Room Selection Information

This process is for Spring 2025 on-campus residential students (including those studying abroad or interning through UTampa). Spring students living off-campus are not eligible to participate in this process and must complete a Continuing Student Standby Waiting List after Feb. 7 at noon to request Fall 2025/Spring 2026 housing.

All students who wish to live on campus for 2025-2026 must complete these steps:

  • Step 1: COMPLETE YOUR APPLICATION
    Dec. 1, 2024 - Feb. 7, 2025, at noon.

    Eligible students will have access to the application in Residence by Symplicity. Completed applications must be submitted by noon on Feb. 7, 2025. Form roommate groups of any size throughout the process. The date of when you apply for housing does not influence your selection time. However, you must apply by the deadline to be eligible to participate.
  • Step 2: STANDBY WAITING LIST OPENS FOR OFF-CAMPUS STUDENTS
    Feb. 7, 2025, at  1 p.m.
    Off-campus students cannot participate in Room Selection. However, starting on Feb. 7 at noon, they can complete a Continuing Student Standby Waiting List to request housing for the Fall 2025/Spring 2026 school year. The application will be available in Residence by Symplicity by request. If space exists, students on the Standby List may be offered spaces via their Spartan email account. Students are encouraged to check their email regularly throughout the summer. An email acceptance from the student is required to secure an offered space. Offers are typically made from June through the 3rd week of Fall classes.
  • Step 3: REVIEW YOUR SELECTION TIME
    Feb. 14 after 2 p.m.

    On Feb. 14, selection times will be sent to student email accounts. Students will be randomly assigned a selection time; with priority given in order based on the number of years students have lived on campus. Students with fewer years on campus will have earlier selection times than those who have had several years on campus. You may select a space either by yourself or with other students. If you choose to join a group, your group selection time will be the median best (middle best number) of its members. Adding or removing members may impact the group selection time.
  • Step 4: SELECT YOUR SPACE
    Feb. 18–21

    Select your space in Residence by Symplicity at your assigned selection time. Spaces will be available in Barrymore Hotel, Brevard, Jenkins, Palm, Straz and Urso. The process will continue until all spaces are selected, or until the last assigned selection time - whichever comes first.
  • Step 5: COMPLETE THE CONTINUING STUDENT STANDBY WAITING LIST (if needed)
    Feb. 20-21
    Should spaces on campus fill before the scheduled end of the Room Selection process, the Office of Residence Life will email students to let them know about the Standby List. Students that could not or did not select a space will need to complete this form to request housing for the Fall 2025/Spring 2026 school year. Offers are made via Spartan email over the summer.
  • Step 6: OFF-CAMPUS FAIR
    Feb. 26, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., The Grand Lawn

    We encourage you to explore off-campus housing options through our off-campus fair. Local apartment complex representatives will be in attendance to go over off-campus options with you for the Fall 2025—Spring 2026 school year.
  • Step 7: ROOM CHANGE WAITING LIST
    Feb. 28, 2025, at 1 p.m.

    If you are not satisfied with the space you picked during Room Selection, you can request a room change starting on Feb. 28th. The Room Change Waiting List will be reviewed over the summer and room changes will be made automatically as spaces open up. To improve your chances of being moved, please list many different options on your form and consider moving individually. The majority of open spaces will be in separate suites across campus. Fully empty suites and apartments are rarely open after the selection process.
  • Step 8: CANCELLATION AND REGISTRATION DEADLINE
    June 1, 2025

    Deadline to cancel: Cancellation requests are in Residence by Symplicity.
    Deadline to register for classes full-time: You must be a full-time student to keep your room on campus.

  • Step 9: CONTINUING STUDENT CHECK-IN
    Aug. 22-24, 2025

    Residence Halls open for continuing students primarily on Friday, Aug. 22, 2025. Specific scheduled move-in days/times for each building will be provided at a later date. The deadline to arrive, check-in and claim your room key is Aug. 24. Your space will not be held beyond Aug. 25 without prior written notice providing your anticipated date of arrival.
