What is Physical Wellness?

Physical wellness is taking care of your body for optimal health and functioning. It encompasses a variety of healthy behaviors including regular medical check-ups, adequate exercise, proper nutrition, and appropriate alcohol and other drug use.

On-Campus Resources

Nutrition Consultations

The University of Tampa offers students free nutrition consultation services. If you are interested in meeting with a Certified Nutrition Specialist, please email the Wellness Center at nutrition@ut.edu.

Become a Certified Nutrition Specialist

Each spring semester, Live Well partners with Student Government to bring AASDN to campus in order to train students who are interested in becoming a Certified Nutrition Specialist. Some scholarships are available for qualifying university students. For more information on this opportunity, please contact wellness@ut.edu.

The Body Project

The Body Project is a group-based intervention that provides a forum for female-identifying college students to confront unrealistic appearance ideals and develop healthy body image and self-esteem. The program is a two-hour, body acceptance workshop delivered in a group format and open to all genders and ages.

During the Body Project Experience, you will:

  1. Challenge unwanted body comments
  2. Improve your body image
  3. Connect with others impacted by our complicated relationships with food and exercise
  4. Commit to making positive change together

If you would like to request a Body Project Workshop, contact Abby McElligott, assistant director of fitness, to schedule via email at amcelligott@ut.edu.

Victim Advocacy

The University of Tampa is proud to offer victim advocacy services to any student who has been the victim of a violent crime. The program is staffed with trained advocates who are designated by the Office of the Attorney General to provide victim services and work on-campus in student life. An advocate may be contacted during the fall and spring semesters through the victim advocate hotline (813) 257-3900 or by contacting Campus Safety. During summer terms or between academic terms, advocates may be contacted solely through Campus Safety. You may always contact an advocate by emailing victimadvocacy@ut.edu.
