Joseph Scarce, a doctoral candidate, is a registered board-certified art therapist, a registered mental health counselor intern, and a marriage and family intern with the state of Florida. Scarce's research focuses on the art therapists' experience making art with clients. Scarce has worked with many populations providing art therapy including adult and children psychiatric, medical hospitals, teen residential treatment centers, foster care placement homes, assisted living facilities, adult substance abuse populations and families in community mental health settings.
Scarce is the advisor to The University of Tampa Healing Arts club and has provided opportunities for art therapy students to become involved in the therapeutic arts and wellness for UT campus wide events and to the surrounding Tampa Bay community.
