The mission of The University of Tampa’s licensing program is to protect and promote the UT brand and to ensure the public can properly identify and associate the University’s name and logos with officially licensed products bearing the University’s marks. The licensing program is designed to ensure consistent and appropriate use of UT’s visual identity.
UT’s licensing program ensures that UT’s brand identity is properly represented on products and services marketed to the both the University community and the public. The licensing program is responsible for determining if a product and/or design are consistent with the goals and image of UT. The program also ensures the quality, content, production and distribution of products meets UT's standards. UT contracts with Affinity Licensing to help coordinate its licensing program.

Types of Licenses

Retail License
This is the most frequently requested license, which allows for the production of emblematic merchandise, which will be sold by the licensee to retail establishments. This license is issued by Affinity. Sample products are reviewed by Affinity for quality and safety standards prior to the submission to the University for final approval. The University has established a standard royalty rate of 12% that is included in the wholesale prices charged by licensees. UT and Affinity reserve the right to adjust this program and the respective fees as market trends permit.
Internal Usage License
A company looking to provide emblematic products for internal use by the University may be considered for this license. The company will still need to apply with Affinity and follow all policies set forth by UT and Affinity, including artwork submission and approval; however, the standard royalty percentages and fees may not apply. A holder of this license is not allowed to sell any products to any party with the exception of The University of Tampa.
UT licensees are encouraged, within the stated guidelines, to be creative in the application of UT trademarks. All designs are subject to approval by Affinity and UT prior to production.
