‘Company’ Opens April 18 at UT

The University of Tampa will stage Company, the Tony Award-winning concept musical by Stephen Sondheim and George Furth, April 18–20. Show times are 8 p.m. on Thursday–Saturday, April 18–20, and 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 21. All performances will be in Falk Theatre, located at 428 W. Kennedy Blvd.

Company centers on Bobby, a single man unable to commit to a relationship, let alone marriage. As he celebrates his 35th birthday with friends, including five couples and three girlfriends, Bobby comes to realize that while relationships aren’t perfect, they are a necessary part of “being alive.” An honest, witty and sophisticated look at relationships, Company is as contemporary and relevant today as it was when first produced in 1970. The play features an energetic score containing many of Sondheim's best-known songs.

The production features a cast of 14 students, including five freshmen, under the direction of Karla Hartley. The scenic and lighting design is by Alex Amyot, UT’s technical production coordinator, with costume design provided by Frank Chavez.
