Internationally Known Attorney, Activist and Public Speaker to Speak at UT Oct. 18

Paul Prestia, a renowned New York City criminal and civil rights lawyer, and advocate for changes to criminal justice legislation, will speak at The University of Tampa on Thursday, Oct. 18, at 4:30 p.m. in the Music Room in Plant Hall.

The discussion is free and open to the public. There will be a meet and greet afterward.

Prestia works on behalf of low-income, minority criminal defendants, as well as represents those who believe their civil rights have been violated. He was most recently featured in the 2017 Netflix television miniseries Time: The Kalief Browder Story, as he represented Browder in a civil rights lawsuit against officials from the Bronx Police Department, the District Attorney’s Office and Riker’s Island jail.

Prestia has appeared on Good Day New York, CNN, NBC, MSNBC and ABC News. His cases have been covered by The New Yorker Magazine, New York Times, New York Magazine, NY Daily News and the New York Post.
