Night at the Operas Features Voice Performance Workshop and UT Orchestra on April 16

The University of Tampa Voice Performance Workshop and UT Symphonic Orchestra will present the “Night at the Operas,” a family-friendly classical concert, on Tuesday, April 16. The event and workshop will begin at 7:30 p.m. and will be held on campus in the Sykes Chapel and Center for Faith and Values. The concert is free and open to the public.

The program will open with featured UT student performers. They will present vocal masterpieces from the operas Samson and Delilah, Street Scene, Cosi fan Tutte and Romeo and Juliette.

In the second half of the event, the audiences will be treated with selections from the classic Rogers and Hammerstein musical The Sound of Music, including sing-along songs such as “My Favorite Things,” “Do-Re-Mi” and “Edelweiss.”

The UT Voice Performance Workshop will be led by Hein Jung, associate professor of music. Jung specializes in opera, oratorio and recital. She has performed throughout the U.S. as well as internationally in South Korea, Canada and Spain.

The UT Symphonic Orchestra will be under the baton of Susan Robinson, adjunct faculty. Robinson has conducted instrumental and vocal ensembles throughout the U.S. and Europe and has enjoyed much success as a music director in professional and educational theaters.
