Record-Breaking Spartans Continue Rise In National Polls

The University of Tampa men's basketball team moved up four spots in the NABC/Division II men's basketball rankings, coming in at No. 12 in Tuesday's release.

Last week, the Spartans were No. 16 after coming in at No. 25 on Jan. 4. UT has earned its first national recognition since the 2007-08 season when it was No. 13.

Head coach Richard Schmidt's Spartans host Sunshine State Conference rival Florida Southern College tonight at the Bob Martinez Sports Center as it aims to continue its school-record winning streak of 16 games as it sits at 16-0 on the season.

The game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at the Bob Martinez Sports Center as the top two teams in the SSC will square off in the first of two meetings this season.

Tampa is coming off a week where it won a pair of contests, including a 78-76 triumph over Saint Leo and an 82-65 win over Palm Beach Atlantic.
