UT Exhibit Features Graduating Senior Artwork from April 17-May 10

The University of Tampa’s BFA graduation exhibit will feature student art work from Wednesday, April 17- Friday, May 10. The exhibit, Undertones, will be held in the Scarfone/Hartley Gallery, located on campus at the R.K Bailey Arts Studios at 310 N. Blvd. The exhibit is free and open to the public.

The exhibit features 10 graduating artists working in a variety of techniques, including oil painting, papermaking, photography, experimental printmaking, encaustic painting, mixed media, sculpture, ceramic and video installation.

The title, Undertones, references two main aspects of the exhibition. One aspect reflects the techniques and processes within the artwork, which incorporate the dimension of time on the visible surface of the art. Likewise, some urgent ideas and themes are layered underneath the surface, reflecting political, emotional, ecological, personal, economic and social concerns.

The seniors featured in the exhibition study art therapy, painting, drawing, printmaking and graphic design at UT.

A reception will close the exhibition on Friday, May 10, from 7-9 p.m.

Gallery hours are from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday through Friday, and 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday.
