UT to Stage the Hit Musical Nice Work If You Can Get It Nov. 17–20

Enjoy an evening with bootleggers, rumrunners, gold diggers and the music of George and Ira Gershwin at The University of Tampa’s production of the hit musical Nice Work If You Can Get It. Show times are 8 p.m. on Thursday–Saturday, Nov. 17–19, and 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 20. All performances will be in Falk Theatre, located at 428 W. Kennedy Blvd.

Nice Work If You Can Get It, featuring songs by George and Ira Gershwin and written by Joe DiPietro, tells the story of Prohibition-era playboy Jimmy Walter, who meets bootlegger Billie Bendix the weekend of his wedding to Eileen Evergreen. Thinking the couple will be out of town for their nuptials, Billie hides a cache of alcohol at Jimmy’s Long Island mansion. When the wedding party shows up, Billie and her gang are forced to pose as servants and hijinks ensue.

UT’s production features more than 30 student performers and a special guest appearance by Linda Devine, UT’s vice president of operations and planning, under the direction of Paul Finocchiaro, assistant professor of theatre. Music direction is by Tara Richards Swartzbaugh, set and lighting design are by Alex Amyot, costume design is by Frank Chavez and stage props are by Jarrid Fox.
