UT Writes Presents Reading Featuring Caroline Hovanec Oct. 18
On Thursday, Oct. 18, The University of Tampa will host a reading and reception featuring Caroline Hovanec, assistant professor of English. The program, which is part of the University’s UT Writes series, begins at 6 p.m. in the Macdonald-Kelce Library, AV Room 2. It is free and open to the public; refreshments will be served.
Hovanec will read from her newly published book Animal Subjects: Literature, Zoology, and British Modernism (Cambridge University Press), where she identifies a new understanding of animals and modernist literature and science.
Hovanec teaches Writing and Inquiry as well as Writing and Research at UT, and her research focuses on literature, science and the environment. She has also authored several articles in journals including English Literature in Transition 1880-1920, Configurations and Literature and Medicine.
In working toward her master’s and doctoral degree at Vanderbilt University, Hovanec was awarded the Robert Manson Myers Dissertation Prize, the Edgar Hill Duncan Award and the Rose Alley Press Achievement Award.
