UT’s Sykes Chapel First Friday @ Noon Recital Series Begins This Friday, Sept. 7

Back by popular demand, The University of Tampa’s Sykes Chapel First Friday @ Noon Recital Series begins this Friday, Sept. 7, in the Sykes Chapel and Center for Faith and Values. Friday’s concert will include the music of Mozart and Schumann performed by violinist Nancy Chang, violist Lei Liu, cellist Helga Winold and pianist Grigorios Zamparas.

These short, 45-minute recitals by UT faculty and guest artists will be offered by the UT Department of Music the first Friday of each month at noon throughout the semester and are free and open to the public.

“The Sykes Chapel First Friday @ Noon Recitals were designed for the campus and local community to provide enriching, noontime musical experiences for people who are on or near campus during the daytime,” said Ryan Hebert, associate professor of music, director of choral studies and University organist. Hebert said the concerts also offer an option for those who cannot attend concerts that occur in the evening or on weekends.

The concert dates follow. Seating is limited, and doors open at 11:30 a.m.

  • Sept. 7: Chamber music performed by violinist Nancy Chang, violist Lei Liu, cellist Helga Winold and pianist Grigorios Zamparas.
  • Oct. 5: Organ recital by Simon Morley, organist and choirmaster at St. John’s Episcopal, Tampa.
