On Thursday, Oct. 25, Lorie Fridell, a faculty member in the Department of Criminology at the University of South Florida, will discuss “The Science of Implicit Bias” as part of The University of Tampa’s honors symposium series. Fridell’s talk will begin at 6 p.m. in the Plant Hall Grand Salon and is free and open to the public.

On Nov. 9, The University of Tampa’s Scarfone/Hartley Gallery will open a new exhibition, Pedro Pablo Oliva’s Cuba: HiStories, highlighting the art of a nationally recognized master of Cuban contemporary art. The exhibition runs through Dec. 12.

On Tuesday, Oct. 23, The University of Tampa will welcome Calvin Falwell, bass clarinetist for the Sarasota Orchestra for a concert in the Plant Hall Music Room. The program for the performance includes “Say It!” by Bradford Blackburn, chair/associate professor of music and director of music technology and composition at UT. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. and is free and open to the public.

Lauren Wright, co-founder of a company called Natural Nipple and a participant in the The University of Tampa’s Lowth Entrepreneurship Center Spartan Incubator program, won first place and $10,000 recently in the Florida Blue Statewide Heath Care Innovation Pitch Competition.
