On Sunday, April 29, The University of Tampa’s Glee Clubs will perform their end-of-the-year concert in the Sykes Chapel and Center for Faith and Values. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. and is free and open to the public.

Sunday’s concert will feature portions of a “pop-up” choir concert performed earlier in the semester in the Vaughn Courtyard, and will include a variety of classical, pop, modern and folk settings. Additionally, the program will feature a rousing spiritual, “Same Train,” performed by the combined Glee Clubs.

On Monday, April 30, The University of Tampa will host the Camerata and Chamber Singers spring concert in the Sykes Chapel and Center for Faith and Values. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. and is free and open to the public.

The program will feature portions of a choral masterworks concert performed earlier in the semester in coordination with Tampa Bay’s Lumina Youth Choirs, including selections from György Orbán's Mass No. 6 for women's voices, and Leonard Bernstein's Chichester Psalms. Additionally, the program will feature renaissance madrigals, a selection of rousing spirituals and several contemporary compositions.

On Tuesday, April 24, the leaders of Cox Fire Protection and Mise en Place are slated to speak at The University of Tampa for the final Business Network Symposium of the 2017-2018 academic year. The event, which is free and open to the public, begins with a continental breakfast at 7:15 a.m., followed by the program from 7:45–9 a.m. in the Vaughn Center Crescent Club.

The slate of speakers includes Linda Cox, CEO of Cox Fire Protection, and Maryann Ferenc, proprietor and CEO of Mise en Place.

The University of Tampa has announced that Cynthia Jay (C. Jay) Pendleton has been selected as the associate provost and dean of academic services.

As associate provost and dean of academic services, Pendleton will be responsible primarily for leadership in the enhancement of student success at UT, in addition to oversight and implementation of academic rules and regulations. She will begin at UT on July 16.

Most people come across seahorses in books or aquariums. Biologists who study syngnathids (seahorses and pipefish), might come across less than 50 in the wild in the span of their careers.

So when Professor Heather Masonjones, Visiting Assistant Professor Emily Rose '07 and sophomore Jessica Elson found more than 700 of them over spring break, it was nearly mind blowing. 

“From a career perspective, this was a discovery,” said Masonjones.
