The University of Tampa’s John P. Lowth Entrepreneurship Center and leading entertainment and lifestyle retailer HSN, an operating segment of HSN, Inc. (NYSE: HSNI), announced today the introduction of the American Dreams Academy, an interactive, educational and experiential two-day summit for emerging entrepreneurs looking to launch or expand their businesses. Entrepreneur and investor Daymond John will keynote the summit.

From Oct. 12–15, The University of Tampa will stage Douglas Carter Beane’s satirical comedy, As Bees in Honey Drown. Show times are 8 p.m. on Thursday–Saturday, Oct. 12–14, and 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 15. All performances will be in Falk Theatre, 428 W. Kennedy Blvd.

As Bees in Honey Drown follows young writer Evan Wylar, New York City’s latest “hot young thing,” who is irresistibly drawn to Alexa Vere de Vere, a name-dropping socialite who promises him fame and fortune. In the end, Alexa is not who she appears to be, and Evan is left in the lurch. To figure out the truth about Alexa, Evan seeks out others she “discovered.”

On Tuesday, Oct. 10, The University of Tampa will welcome the CEOs of Ideal Image, VetCor and BayCare to kick off the 2017-2018 Business Network Symposium series. There will be a continental breakfast at 7:15 a.m., followed by the program from 7:45–9 a.m. The event, which is free and open to the public, will be held in the Vaughn Center Crescent Club, 401 W. Kennedy Blvd.

On Tuesday, Oct. 10, members of The University of Tampa’s music faculty will give a woodwind recital. The concert begins at 7:30

Faculty performers include Meg Cassell, oboe; Ted DeCorso, clarinet; Barbara Prescott, flute; and Maurizio Venturini, bassoon.

Works on the program are a mix of tonal colors and musical styles, and includes trios and quartets by Haydn, Clementi, Bozza, Arnold and Goepfart.

Growing up playing ice hockey in Summit, NJ, Carter Haines ’19 hadn’t considered the possibility of playing an Olympic competitor, let alone when he was still in college. But on Friday, the club president of the UT Hockey Team will lead his players in a match against the U.S. Women’s National Team

“I never thought in a million years I’d be playing a Team USA Olympic team,” said Haines, a finance major. “It’s just such a cool experience.”
