The University of Tampa announced today that the Collegiate Entrepreneurs’ Organization, the largest and premier national organization devoted to collegiate level entrepreneurs, will now be housed at UT’s John P. Lowth Entrepreneurship Center in the Sykes College of Business.

The Collegiate Entrepreneurs’ Organization (CEO), founded in 1983, works to inform, support and inspire college students to be entrepreneurial and seek opportunity through enterprise creation. It serves more than 250 university chapters nationwide, provides networking opportunities, coordinates pitch competitions, produces a newsletter, offers leadership programming and organizes an annual conference that in past years has attracted nearly 1,500 participants. This year’s CEO National Conference will be held Oct. 27–29 at the Tampa Convention Center.

The University of Tampa has announced it will demolish the remaining two wings of the 30-year-old ResCom residence hall and will break ground immediately on a new residence hall in its place.

The demolition will begin the week of May 9.

Katie Robinson ’16 has a busy May planned.

First she’ll graduate on May 7 with a degree in marine science – biology with a minor in Asian studies. Then she’ll get married to Robert Filipp ’16, a finance major with a minor in accounting, who she met in the President’s Leadership Fellows.

Then one week later they head to San Diego, where they’ll start putting down roots for the next phase of their life as Robinson begins a master’s program in marine science with an emphasis in coastal and wetland ecology at the University of San Diego and Filipp interviews for positions in the financial industry.

While they have climbed the lava rocks on Giants Causeway and paid tribute to St. Patrick’s gravesite in Downpatrick, the five University of Tampa seniors spending half of this semester in Northern Ireland have said their time in the classroom has been the greatest impact.

“Professionally, this trip has prepared me to be more knowledgeable and aware of the different cultures and diversities that students bring into the classroom,” said Sariah Cafiero ’16, an elementary education major from Sag Harbor, NY. “It is such an important skill to be able to create an environment where all students feel safe and welcome, especially when it comes to religion and culture.”

The University of Tampa will honor more than 1,400 graduates at its 142nd commencement on Saturday, May 7. The ceremony will take place at Amalie Arena at 9:30 a.m. The 1,486 degree candidates include 1,208 bachelor’s degree candidates and 278 master’s degree candidates. The ceremony is free and open to the public.
