Two outstanding, award-winning scientists will visit The University of Tampa to give brief inspirational talks about their science and life experiences as part of the annual Museum of Science & Industry (MOSI) National Hispanic Scientist of the Year (NHSOY) event.

The scientists are Miguel Morales-Silva, physicist at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratories, and Modesto Maidique, president emeritus at Florida International University. Maidique was named 2015 MOSI National Hispanic Scientist of the Year, and Morales-Silva was named 2015 MOSI Early Career National Hispanic Scientist of the Year.

The University of Tampa will welcome Mindy Grossman, CEO of HSNi, and Liz Smith, CEO of Bloomin’ Brands, on Thursday, Oct. 22, as part of the Sykes Hall of Fame Business Speaker Series. The event is free and open to the public, but seating is limited.

The event begins at 5:30 p.m. in Falk Theatre, 428 W. Kennedy Blvd., with networking and refreshments. The presentation, Entrepreneur or Intrapreneur: Dare to be Different, begins at 6 p.m.

On Thursday, Oct. 22, The University of Tampa will welcome prominent human rights researcher and advocate David Hawk, who will present When the United Nations Works to Promote and Protect Human Rights. The event, part of the University’s Honors Program symposia series, begins at 6:30 p.m. in the Sykes Chapel and Center for Faith and Values and is free and open to the public.

From Oct. 15–18, The University of Tampa will stage Diana Son’s Stop Kiss. Show times are 8 p.m. on Thursday–Saturday, Oct. 15–17, and 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 19. All performances will be in Falk Theatre, located at 428. W. Kennedy Blvd. The play centers on two women who unexpectedly find themselves attracted to each other and falling in love.

A trio of local business leaders — from Dimmitt Automotive Group, Cigar City Brewing and Tampa General Hospital — are scheduled to speak at The University of Tampa on Tuesday, Oct. 20, to kick off the 2015-2016 Business Network Symposium series. There will be a continental breakfast at 7:15 a.m., followed by the program from 7:45–9 a.m. The event, which is free and open to the public, will be held in the Vaughn Center Crescent Club, 401 W. Kennedy Blvd.
