In November, University of Tampa entrepreneurship students were faced with solving a challenge presented by former President Bill Clinton. How can student entrepreneurs improve early childhood education in the urban slums of the world?

Two UT student teams have advanced in the competition, beating teams from schools including Harvard, Princeton and Yale, and still have a chance to win $1 million in startup capital.

After a semester filled with group projects, all-nighters and presentations, Griffin Guinta ’16 was looking forward to relaxing on spring break. But, like many UT students, he did it in a nontraditional way.

Guinta, a writing major and member of the UT Chamber Choir, decided to join the 25-member choir on an extensive recruiting and performing road trip to New Orleans, with stops at three historical churches and seven high schools along the way.

“Most people would scoff at the idea of spending their coveted break singing 17th century madrigals, but I couldn't think of a better way to spend my free time,” said Guinta, of Bradenton, FL.

During spring break, UT students left the brick streets of campus vacant and headed for destinations around the world. From volunteering with PEACE alternative break trips, to cruising the Caribbean to dipping their toes in the local sands, Spartans shared where #UTSpringBreak took them.

From March 26–29, The University of Tampa will stage the comedy Moon Over Buffalo. Show times are 8 p.m. Thursday–Saturday, March 26–28, and 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 29. All performances will be in Falk Theatre, located at 428 W. Kennedy Blvd.

Moon Over Buffalo opens on George and Charlotte Hay, fading stars of the 1950s, who are experiencing a decline in their careers, theatre company and relationship. The pair are performing in Buffalo, NY, when they receive word that they might have one last shot at stardom: famed director, producer and screenwriter Frank Capra is coming to town to see their matinee. If he likes what he sees, he might cast them in his upcoming movie. Unfortunately, everything that could go wrong does — big time!
