Andreas Klein has been called a “pianist who makes silences sound like music” (New York Times). On Saturday, Jan. 24, The University of Tampa will welcome Klein for a piano recital at 7:30 p.m. in Plant Hall’s Grand Salon. The concert is free and open to the public.

The program for the concert, titled From Austria to Argentina, will include works by Mozart, Chopin, Busoni, Stravinsky and Ginastera.

The University of Tampa’s Spring 2015 Honors Program symposia series kicks off Wednesday, Jan. 28, with a presentation by Lt. Gen. Roméo A. Dallaire, who was the commanding officer of the United Nations Assistance Mission for Rwanda prior to and during the 1994 genocide. His talk, titled The Rwandan Genocide, begins at 4 p.m. in the Sykes Chapel and Center for Faith and Values on the UT campus.

Students, faculty and staff from The University of Tampa will honor the legacy of the late Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with a day of service to the Tampa Bay community on Friday, Jan. 23.

Having played soccer since he was 5 years old, and travel soccer since he was 7, Andres Gonzalez’ closet was full of uniforms past. He didn’t know what to do with them all, but he didn’t want them to go to waste.

So he started a charity to donate uniforms to students in Central America.

On Wednesday, Jan. 21, The University of Tampa will welcome pianist Maria Lyapkova, who will give a recital titled Meditation on the Past. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. in Plant Hall’s Grand Salon and is free and open to the public.

The program for the concert includes pieces for piano by Russian composer Galina Ustvolskaya and Ukranian composer Valentin Sivestrov, and the Sonata for Piano and Cello by Polish composer Frederic Chopin, featuring guest cellist Edevaldo Mulla.
