Be transported to early 19th century France, as The University of Tampa presents the award-winning musical Les Misérables Nov. 20–23. Show times are 8 p.m. on Thursday–Saturday, and 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 23. All performances will be in Falk Theatre, located at 428 W. Kennedy Blvd.

On Sunday, Nov. 23, The University of Tampa will welcome world percussionist Tom Teasley — described as “a percussionist in the widest and most exuberant sense” (Washington Post) — as part of the 2014-2015 PNC Bank Concert Artist Series at the Sykes Chapel and Center for Faith and Values. The performance is set for 2 p.m. and is free and open to the public.

Vincent Tafuro Jr. ’16 says that if you explain conscious capitalism to a Baby Boomer, they typically ask, “What is the return on investment?” But if you ask a college student, they typically say, “Why would you do business any other way?”

Tafuro is the president of Conscious Capitalism Florida, a local chapter of a national nonprofit promoting the foundations of capitalism married with trust, compassion, collaboration and value creation, and subscribing to the notion that every business has a higher purpose that includes, but is more than, making money.

Michael Saks, a professor of law and psychology at the Sandra Day O’Connor School of Law at Arizona State University, will be at The University of Tampa on Wednesday, Nov. 19, to speak on Forensic Science: Its Problems are Our Problems as part of the University’s honors symposia series. The talk begins at 2 p.m. in the Trustee’s Board Room on the ninth floor of the Vaughn Center, 401 W. Kennedy Blvd., and is free and open to the public.

The University of Tampa’s forensic science degree program has received a donation of DNA, drugs and explosives laboratory instruments — valued at more than $230,000 — that will allow students to experience real-world, hands-on research.

The National Forensic Science Technology Center (NFSTC) donated eight DNA, drugs and explosives analysis instruments, including gas chromatograph mass spectrometers (GC-MS) and genetic analyzers, totaling more than $170,000.
