On Wednesday, Sept. 17, at 7:15 p.m., The University of Tampa’s honors symposia series will continue with a panel of speakers from the Tampa International Gay and Lesbian Film Festival (TIGLFF) to discuss what goes into producing the third oldest film festival in Florida. The discussion, titled Tampa International Gay and Lesbian Film Festival Adapts to the Digital Age, will be in the Vaughn Center’s Reeves Theater and is free and open to the public.

As part of celebrating College Colors Day 2014 on Aug. 29, University of Tampa students had the opportunity to exchange old T-shirts from other universities and colleges for a new University of Tampa Spartans “Put Red and Black on Your Back” T-shirt.

The University of Tampa, in partnership with Store Financial and Home Safe Card, is offering its students a prepaid card that facilitates a safe ride home and prevents drunk driving.

An alternative to cash and credit cards, the Home Safe Card is a prepaid gift card that can only be redeemed for taxi fare, mass-transit fare, rental car fees, airline tickets and other transportation methods.

The expertise of The University of Tampa’s adjunct art faculty will be on display Sept. 5–26 when they display recent works at the Adjunct Art Faculty Exhibition at the Scarfone/Hartley Gallery. There will be an opening reception honoring the artists on Friday, Sept. 5, from 7–9 p.m. The reception and exhibition are free and open to the public.

Leah Joyce ’15 spent this summer in Colorado living in a 1934 rustic miner’s cabin, without even running water. She was interning at the Rocky Mountain Biological Lab studying bumblebee behavior and collecting data for a bumblebee census throughout different elevations in the mountains.

And she loved every minute of it.
