The defending national champion University of Tampa baseball team will travel to Cuba Jan. 12-19 for a cultural exchange program while also playing some top baseball teams.

Among the cultural experiences the team will engage in include touring Havana, visiting museums, cultural centers and art galleries, eating at area paladares and doing community service with local children. The team is also tentatively slated to play four baseball games and engage in dialogue with players, trainers and coaches, as well as students and faculty from the University of Havana.

The University of Tampa’s Bachelor of Science degree in biochemistry has recently been accredited by the American Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (ASBMB).

The University of Tampa’s student newspaper, The Minaret, recently won a general excellence award for its online site, The Minaret Online, in the 2013 Associated Collegiate Press Newspaper Online Pacemaker contest.

The University of Tampa Sykes College of Business has maintained its business accreditation by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). AACSB International is the longest serving global accrediting body for business schools that offer undergraduate, master's and doctoral degrees in business and accounting.

Of the 436 students who received their diplomas at UT’s December commencement on Dec. 14, 34 countries were represented. What the diverse crowd shared was an enthusiasm and joy for the hard work and accomplishment of their friends and family walking across the stage.
