When Student Government decided to participate in AT&T’s It Can Wait campaign against texting while driving, they didn’t expect the response received.

“We had 843 students who took the pledge to not text while driving,” said Student Government President Patrick “PK” Creedon ’14, of the Sept. 23 effort. “It was incredible.”

The University of Tampa will present an evening fit for brass music lovers when the Tampa Brass gives a concert on Monday, Sept. 30. The concert, which is free and open to the public, will begin at 7:30 p.m. at the Sykes Chapel and Center for Faith and Values. Parking is available on campus.

Nick Friedman, who co-founded the College Hunks Hauling Junk franchise while he was still a college student, will speak at The University of Tampa on Monday, Oct. 7.

Friedman’s talk, “Work Smart, Play Hard, Get in the Game,” part of the TECO Center for Leadership Speaker Series, begins at 4:30 p.m. in the Sykes College of Business, Room 134. The event is free and open to the public, but space is limited.

The University of Tampa will welcome author Matt Batt on Tuesday, Oct. 1, to open the 2013-2014 Writers at the University series. The reading will be held at 7 p.m. in the Scarfone/Hartley Gallery on campus and is free and open to the public.

For the 17th consecutive year, The University of Tampa has set another enrollment record. This year’s total — including graduates and undergraduates — is 7,343, up 5.5 percent from last year’s total of 6,958. This year’s total enrollment is over triple the University’s enrollment of two decades ago.
