An aerial silks dance is just one of the highlights of The University of Tampa’s annual Spring Dance Concert scheduled for Feb. 21-23 at 8 p.m., with an additional matinee show at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 23. All performances will be in UT’s Falk Theatre and are free and open to the public.

At the end of this month, a group of UT students will tackle some controversial public issues with ambiguous outcomes.

As finalists in December’s regional competition, beating out schools like the University of Florida, University of Alabama and the Georgia Military College, for the first time in UT history, UT’s Intercollegiate Ethics Bowl debate team will compete at the national level.

The 2012-2013 Writers at the University series at The University of Tampa continues Tuesday, Feb. 19, with Amina Lolita Gautier, winner of the 2011 Flannery O’Conner Award for Short Fiction for her short story collection At-Risk. Gautier will give a reading in the Plant Hall Music Room from 7–9 p.m.

Beginning in August 2013, The University of Tampa will join the growing list of U.S. colleges and universities to limit smoking on campus by designating particular smoking zones.

All Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate high school teachers from Hillsborough, Pinellas, Pasco, Hernando, Manatee and Sarasota counties are invited to participate in a one-day workshop at The University of Tampa on Saturday, Feb. 23, to learn how to inspire students to take their interest in chemistry outside of the classroom.
