Continuing their effort to get more Tampa Bay area students excited about careers in math, science and technology, The University of Tampa’s Department of Information and Technology Management and the Tampa Bay Technology Leadership Association (TBTLA) will co-host GETSMART (Getting Everyone to Study Math and Related Technologies) on Saturday, Oct. 13.

The first concert of the 2012-2013 Concert Artist Series in the Sykes Chapel and Center for Faith and Values will also be a first for The University of Tampa. The concert, scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 7, at 2 p.m., will be the first to feature the chapel’s 3,184-pipe Dobson organ with an orchestra.

John H. Sykes, entrepreneur and philanthropist, and his son Charles “Chuck” Sykes, president and CEO of Sykes Enterprises, Incorporated, will stop by The University of Tampa Wednesday, Oct. 10, to tell the story of Sykes Enterprises, one of Tampa’s largest publically traded companies.

On Saturday, Oct. 6, The University of Tampa Wind Ensemble will perform a multimedia production featuring live music from popular movies synched with video and lighting effects. This annual concert, dubbed “A Night at the Movies VI,” will take place in the Cass Gym on campus and begins at 7:30 p.m.

The University of Tampa will present William Inge’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play Picnic Oct. 11–14. Performances are scheduled for Thursday through Saturday at 8 p.m., and Sunday at 2 p.m. at Falk Theatre, located at 428 W. Kennedy Blvd., across from the University.
