Dance Happening has been a tradition at The University of Tampa since the early 1990s and gives students who love to dance experience in choreography and performance. The event is completely student-run, from auditions to rehearsals.
To be qualified to choreograph, students must have taken courses in improvisation, composition and choreography, and have partcipated as a performer in at least one dance happening. Choreographers can only be dance majors or minors and eligibility is typically acquired after sophomore year.
Happening pieces are chosen based on a choreographer's written proposal and interview with dance faculty. Auditions to perform are open to all students enrolled at UT. Participants range from freshmen to seniors and come from a variety of majors.
