Twenty-four advanced placement (AP) Hillsborough County high school chemistry students will participate in a college laboratory experience at The University of Tampa on Saturday, Dec. 3.
The students will interact with college chemistry students and faculty during a laboratory exercise that will utilize equipment and techniques that are not available at their own high schools. The event will be held from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the general chemistry laboratories in the Science Wing of Plant Hall. The students will be involved in laboratory experiments, discussions and campus tours.
UT Advanced Placement Chemistry Day is one of the annual community outreach events coordinated by the UT departments of chemistry, biochemistry and physics. This is done in partnership with the Florida Department of Education through the support of Larry Plank, director of K-12 science for the Hillsborough County Public Schools.
