On Thursday, April 10, pianist Olga Llano Kuehl-White will give a master class and perform a concert at The University of Tampa. The performance,
Viva España, will take place in Plant Hall’s Grand Salon at 7:30 p.m. and is free and open to the public.
While on campus, Kuehl-White will also give a master class for piano performance students beginning at 1 p.m. in the Ferman Music Center, room 101.
The program for the performance will include pieces by Spanish composers, including Granados, Albéniz and de Falla.
Kuehl-White has had a long and varied career as a concert pianist and piano teacher. She holds a doctorate in piano performance from the Cincinnati Conservatory and taught piano at the University of Akron, Kent State University and the College of Wooster as well as given private lessons in the studio of her South Tampa home.
She spent 20 years researching and editing accurate editions, with performance and interpretive suggestions for students and teachers, of the piano music of Spanish composers Isaac Albeniz and Enrique Granados. The resulting edition of Albeniz's
Espana, a suite of six piano pieces, was published by Alfred Music Publishing.
