Josh Cessna, Ars Sonora curator, will perform traditional spooky classics, many known from popular scary movies and TV shows, such as “This is Halloween” from the movie The Nightmare Before Christmas; Saint-Saens’ “Danse Macabre,” which may be recognized from numerous works, including TV’s Buffy the Vampire Slayer and the movies Hugo and Tombstone; and Bach’s “Toccata and Fugue in D minor,” which was used in Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde and Disney’s Fantasia.

UT’s Ars Sonora, the first of its kind in the U.S., is a 105-foot-tall musical sculpture adorned with 63 hand-crafted bronze bells that can be played by a remote keyboard. The sculpture is next to the Sykes Chapel and Center for Faith and Values and reflects the importance of character and values, interfaith understanding and cultural literacy.

Seating will be set up on the courtyard's south side, and benches surround the Ars Sonora. Song requests can be sent to Cessna at jcessna@ut.edu, though there is no guarantee they will all be featured. For more information, contact music@ut.edu.
