A composer festival featuring the music of Mark Sforzini, the executive and artistic director of the St. Petersburg Opera Company, will be held on Thursday, Nov. 10, at 7:30 p.m. in Fletcher Lounge of Plant Hall at The University of Tampa. The concert is free and open to the public.

Students and faculty will perform a captivating selection of Sforzini’s recent work for chamber ensembles, wind ensemble and orchestra. Sforzini will be on hand to present his music and conduct a faculty chamber ensemble.

Highly sought after as a composer, Sforzini has been commissioned by the Florida Orchestra, Naples Philharmonic and the FloriMezzo, Palladium Theater. His compositions have been played throughout the United States at music festivals such as the Eastern Music Festival, Crested Butte Music Festival, Chautauqua; along with performances by the Florida Orchestra, Omaha Symphony, Alabama Symphony, Brevard Symphony and the Tampa Bay Symphony.

This is the fourth annual composer festival at UT, and is sponsored by the UT Department of Music in the College of Arts and Letters.
