The always popular spring Dance Happening will take place April 30–May 3 at The University of Tampa, featuring popular music and student dancers from all parts of the University community. The show begins at 8 p.m. in Reeves Theater on the second floor of the Vaughn Center and winds its way through campus to the East Verandah of Plant Hall.
Dance Happening will feature choreography by UT students and alumni that explores everything from current social issues to dancing for the pure joy of the movement. The audience will also get a glimpse at the piece created during the recent Urban Bush Women residency. Dance styles include hip hop, modern, ballet, lyrical and jazz, with more than 90 students participating.
“The Dance Happening is all about people doing what they love. It’s a great way for student dancers and choreographers to express themselves in a very supportive environment,” said senior Nicole Crance, a communication major and dance/theatre minor, who is choreographing her first dance at UT. “Plus, it’s such a popular event, and we have so much fun performing for our audiences. Everyone who attends the Dance Happening leaves with a big smile on their face!”
"The Dance Happening is simply one of the most unique and exciting performance events you'll experience on a university campus," said Susannah LeMarquand, director of the UT Dance Happening and a former UT dancer. “The range of work presented offers something for everyone.”
