UT MFA Program Presents Lectores Speaker Series June 15–22
The University of Tampa MFA in Creative Writing speaker series, Lectores, will feature seven nights of readings with a mix of award-winning visiting authors and UT’s world-renowned MFA faculty from June 15–22.All readings and events are free and open to the public. All begin at 7:30 p.m. in Falk Theatre, 428 W. Kennedy Blvd., except where noted. The full series follows:

- Thursday, June 15 — Reading by Jennifer Egan, author of Look at Me, which was a finalist for the National Book Award in 2001, and A Visit from the Goon Squad, which won a 2011 Pulitzer Prize for fiction.
- Friday, June 16 — Reading by Sarah Gerard, author of the essay collection Sunshine State, the novel Binary Star (a finalist for the Los Angeles Times first fiction prize) and two chapbooks.
- Saturday, June 17 — Reading by poet Tommy “Teebs” Pico, author of IRL, Nature Poem, Junk, the zine series Hey, Teebs and the chapbook app absentMINDR.
- Monday, June 19 — Reading by Jensen Beach, author of two story collections, most recently Swallowed by the Cold.
- Tuesday, June 20 — Readings by Zukiswa Wanner, 2015 winner of the South African Literary Awards’ K. Sello Duiker Award for her fourth novel London Cape Town, and Silvia Curbelo, author of the poetry collections Falling Landscape, The Secret History of Water, The Geography of Leaving and Ambush. This event will take place in the Scarfone/Hartley Gallery at the R.K. Bailey Art Studios, 310 North Boulevard.
- Wednesday, June 21 — Reading by Rahul Mehta, author of the novel No Other World and a short story collection, Quarantine, which won a Lambda Literary Award and the Asian American Literary Award for Fiction.
- Thursday, June 22 — Reading by Kevin Moffett, author of Permanent Visitors, which won the John Simmons Short Fiction Award, and Further Interpretations of Real-Life Events.
The UT MFA in Creative Writing program works by bringing students for 10-day residencies in January and June and then facilitating individual mentorship between students and writing faculty from a distance.
