On Sunday, Dec. 3, take a break from the holiday rush to attend The University of Tampa’s annual holiday concert, Let Heaven and Nature Sing: A Holiday Celebration. There will be two performances, at 2 and 4 p.m., in the Sykes Chapel and Center for Faith and Values. The program is free and open to the public, but seating is limited. Doors open 30 minutes before the concert.

“I really enjoy the holiday concert. It’s the highlight of the semester,” said Ryan Hebert, director of choral studies. “Even though it’s a holiday concert, it’s a wonderful way for us as artists to express how we can respond to trying times.”

The program includes seasonal music and readings, and the audience will have the opportunity to sing along with several selections, including O Come All Ye Faithful, Hark! The Herald Angels Sing and Joy to the World.

“I’ve crafted the concert to both reflect the meaning of the season, and to call to mind the significant positive impact seasonal music can have on our community,” said Hebert. “The holiday concert at UT is an artistic vessel to communicate peace and inclusivity — something that I feel fits in well with our culture here.”

Performing at the concert will be UT’s Chamber Singers, conducted by Hebert, and Camerata Singers, conducted by Rodney Shores, artist associate faculty.

The concert will also include a brass ensemble comprised of Aric Brian and Jay Coble, trumpets; Leela Lortz, timpanist; Brandon McDannald, horn; and Thomas McNair, trombone; and feature organist Haig Mardirosian, pianist Grigorios Zamparas and clarinetist Ted DeCorso.
