UT to Stage As Bees In Honey Drown Oct. 12–15

From Oct. 12–15, The University of Tampa will stage Douglas Carter Beane’s satirical comedy, As Bees in Honey Drown. Show times are 8 p.m. on Thursday–Saturday, Oct. 12–14, and 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 15. All performances will be in Falk Theatre, 428 W. Kennedy Blvd.

As Bees in Honey Drown follows young writer Evan Wylar, New York City’s latest “hot young thing,” who is irresistibly drawn to Alexa Vere de Vere, a name-dropping socialite who promises him fame and fortune. In the end, Alexa is not who she appears to be, and Evan is left in the lurch. To figure out the truth about Alexa, Evan seeks out others she “discovered.”

At the crux of this insightful comedy are questions about what is most important — creating a persona you believe everyone wants to be or being true to yourself? And how far are you willing to go in order to achieve fame?

The University’s production features a cast of six UT students under the direction of Karla Hartley.

Tickets are $15 for the general public, $10 for non-UT students and senior citizens, and free for UT students, faculty and staff with a valid ID. Free parking is available on the UT campus.
