The University of Tampa will stage the Tony Award–winning musical comedy
Guys and Dolls — featuring the hit songs “I’ll Know,” “Sit Down, You’re Rockin’ the Boat” and the title song, “Guys and Dolls” — at 8 p.m. on Thursday–Saturday, Nov. 16–18, and 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 19. All performances will be in Falk Theatre, located at 428 W. Kennedy Blvd.
Guys and Dolls, featuring music and lyrics by Frank Loesser and a book by Jo Swerling and Abe Burrows, depicts the hustle and bustle of New York City through a pantomime of never-ceasing activities. Gambling and romance highlight the comedy, following the stories of gamblers Nicely-Nicely Johnson, Benny Southstreet and Rusty Charlie on their adventures with lovers Sky, Sarah, Nathan Detroit and Miss Adelaide.
UT’s production features 30 student performers from the theatre program, with Associate Professor of Theatre Paul Finocchiaro leading as director and choreographer. Tara Richards Swartzbaugh, piano and theory instructor at UT, is the musical director for the performance. Alex Amyot, technical production coordinator, is the technical director and will be in charge of lighting, set and sound design.
Admission is free for UT students, faculty and staff with valid UT identification. General admission tickets are $15, and senior citizens and non-UT students may purchase tickets for $10.
