UT’s PNC Bank Concert Artist Series Continues Nov. 13 with Haig Mardirosian

On Sunday, Nov. 13, organist Haig Mardirosian will celebrate 50 years as a recitalist with a performance in The University of Tampa’s PNC Bank Concert Artist Series in the Sykes Chapel and Center for Faith and Values. The concert begins at 2 p.m. and is free and open to the public.

Since his debut in Baltimore on Nov. 13, 1966, Mardirosian has played hundreds of recitals, concertos and collaborative concerts in his half-century of performing. He has been called upon to perform in international festivals in Europe and as a dedicatory recitalist for new instruments.

Critical acclaim of his performances has come from all quarters. The Rochester (NY) Democrat and Chronicle said Mardirosian has “outstanding musicianship and virtuosity ... He admirably expressed color, motion and human perspective in musical terms” and the American Record Guide said of his recorded work, “In our present day and age, much more such splendid organ playing is needed!”

This very special program includes collaborations with violinist Lucas Guideri and a choir of women’s voices conducted by Rodney Shores in music by Jeanne Demessieux, J.S. Bach, Maurice Duruflé, John Ireland and Sigfrid Karg-Elert.

The concert is free, but seating is limited. Doors open 30 minutes before the performance. Parking is available on campus.

The 2016-2017 PNC Bank Concert Artist Series is underwritten by PNC Bank and the UT College of Arts and Letters. For more information, contact caldean@ut.edu or go to www.ut.edu/sykeschapel.
