The University of Tampa and Hillsborough County Public School Board have joined forces to focus on improving high-needs schools by encouraging teachers to receive advanced degrees specializing in school leadership for turn-around schools.

The initiative, which begins in fall 2017, establishes a special cohort of selected Hillsborough County Public School (HCPS) teachers who will pursue a master’s degree in educational leadership. The curriculum, which is designed to coordinate with the HCPS Leadership Pipeline, will focus on administrative leadership and emphasize improving high-needs schools.

John Lowth, member of The University of Tampa’s class of 1982, Board of Trustee member, parent of a UT student and namesake of the Lowth Entrepreneurship Center, passed away on Sunday, April 9.

Make plans to be at the world premiere staging of Blood Guilt: Orestes on Trial at The University of Tampa April 20–23. Show times are 8 p.m. Thursday–Saturday, April 20–22, and 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 23. All performances will be held in Falk Theatre, located at 428 W. Kennedy Blvd.

Blood Guilt: Orestes on Trial, adapted by UT’s Bob Gonzalez based on a translation by Ian Johnston, is a modern version of the Oresteia trilogy of Aeschylus. This monumental work of the first Athenian playwright tells the story of the cursed House of Atreus, where the sins of the family’s ancestors are visited upon four succeeding generations.

CEO Magazine has ranked The University of Tampa Sykes College of Business’ MBA as a top tier program in North America, and named UT’s Executive MBA program as the No. 32 global executive MBA program.

For the ranking, CEO Magazine used numerous data points, including quality of faculty, international diversity, class size, accreditation, faculty to student ratio, price, international exposure, gender parity and delivery methods.

On Thursday, April 13, join The University of Tampa Sykes College of Business for the annual Adam Smith Society Breakfast. The event will run from 7:30–9:30 a.m. in the Crescent Club on the ninth floor of the Vaughn Center on campus, 401 W. Kennedy Blvd.

The Adam Smith Society Breakfast is geared toward local business community members operating in the global economy. The event includes breakfast as well as an update on the Tampa Bay economy by John Stinespring, UT associate professor of economics, and Vivekanand Jayakumar, UT associate professor of economics.
