From April 29–May 6, graduating University of Tampa fine arts students will exhibit their work in the Scarfone/Hartley Gallery, Room 110 and Photo Studio, Room 126. A closing reception honoring the student exhibitors is scheduled for Friday, May 6, from 7–9 p.m. and is free and open to the public.

When someone is the victim of sexual assault, 211 is called to connect the person with resources in the community. One of those resources is a victim advocate from the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay.

“They are called to assist the survivor during the forensic exam,” said Maya Burtin ’16, a criminology major from Kansas City, MO, who is trained as a victim advocate. “You’re there to listen and help support them.”

From encouraging an appreciation of Florida’s wildlands through nature tours, to providing eco-friendly pre conditioned air units, 16 Tampa Bay-area businesses are leading the commitment to social, economic and environmental responsibility. They will be honored at the eighth annual Sustainable Business Awards luncheon on Friday, April 29, at 11:30 a.m. at The University of Tampa’s Crescent Club on the ninth floor of the Vaughn Center, 401 W. Kennedy Blvd.

The University of Tampa announced on Saturday that it has been named as the first U.S. affiliate of the Center for José Martí Studies (Centro de Estudios Martianos), based in Havana.

The Center for José Martí Studies (CEM) is an accredited research institution under the Ministry of Culture in Cuba whose mission is to promote the life, work and thought of Cuba’s greatest hero, José Martí. Prior to Saturday, there were 33 CEM affiliates, mainly housed within Latin American universities.

Make plans to be at The University of Tampa on Tuesday, April 26, when the University welcomes two local business leaders for the final Business Network Symposium of the 2015-2016 academic year, followed by an interview of Christine Day, CEO of Luvo and former CEO of lululemon, as part of the Today’s Entrepreneurial Women Speaker Series.

The event begins with a continental breakfast at 7:15 a.m. The Business Network Symposium program runs from 7:45–8:30 a.m., followed by an interview of Day from 8:30–9:30 a.m. Both events will be held in the Vaughn Center Crescent Club and are free and open to the public.
