As part of its continued commitment to sustainability and energy savings, The University of Tampa has 10 electric vehicle (EV) charging stations; four located on the first floor of the Thomas Parking Garage, two located at the first floor of West Parking Garage and four located on the first floor of Delaware Parking Garage. These EV charging stations can charge all new generation electric vehicles, such as the Chevy Volt, Nissan Leaf, Ford Focus Electric and Honda Fit Electric. Any electric vehicle can use these charging stations with the connector (J1772) being an industry standard for Level 2 charging. Tesla can be charged if you own a charger adapter provided by Tesla. The stations are completely reliable and easy to use. It’s as simple as plugging in your cell phone.
How to Charge an EV
- Start a session by opening the ChargeUp app and scanning the QR code (or enter the Station ID) included on the charger’s panel.
- Unplug the connector from the charging station and insert it into your electric vehicle; once you hear the “click” sound, the connection is secure.
- When the charging station status turns from “Ready” (signified by the green light) to “Charging” (signified by the blue light), you have started charging your vehicle.
- When your electric vehicle is fully charged, or you decide to end your charging session, simply unplug the connector from your vehicle, coil the cord around the bracket and plug the connector back into the station.

Is There a Fee to Charge?
We are in process of determining reasonable fees for rollout at the beginning of fall semester, 2022. These fees will be less expensive than it would be to charge your vehicle at your place of residence. There is no charge for parking.
