Joseph Lopano, TIA CEO, to Speak at UT Feb. 5

Joseph W. Lopano, the CEO of Tampa International Airport, will speak as part of The University of Tampa’s Leadership Speaker Series on Wednesday, Feb. 5. The presentation, Enabling Greatness in Others: A Leadership Journey, will take place from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. in the Trustees Board Room on the ninth floor of the Vaughn Center, and is free to registered students and guests.

Lopano has 40 years of experience working in the aviation industry and was appointed as CEO of Tampa International Airport in 2011. Lopano is also heavily involved with organizations in the Tampa area.
Lopano serves on the board of the Hillsborough County Metropolitan Planning Organization, is a member of the executive committee for the Tampa Hillsborough Economic Development Co. and is a past honorary commander at MacDill Air Force Base. In addition, Lopano is involved in a number of organizations on a national level, including the U.S. Travel Association and the Airports Council World Governing Board.
Since arriving at Tampa, Lopano has received a number of recognitions and awards. In 2015, he was Visit Tampa Bay’s 2015 Ambassador of the Year and received the 2015 Aviation Professional of the Year Award from the Florida Department of Transportation. Most recently, Lopano received the H.L. Culbreath Jr. Profile in Leadership Award from the Tampa Bay Chamber.
Prior to coming to Tampa, Lopano worked at the Dallas/Fort Worth Airport for 14 years as the executive vice president for marketing and terminal management and held positions at Continental Airlines.
